with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra

aboard Mein Schiff 1

6th–13th July 2012
Valletta – Istanbul – Kuşadasi – Piraeus – Valletta
Price from: £2,399 per person cruise only with inside cabin

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra have developed a special form of cruise, where they are passengers on the ship, taking part in all the ordinary activities of the cruise, mingling with the other passengers, practicing their instruments in ones or twos, making spontaneous music in the public spaces, but then rehearsing in public for their on-board formal concerts as well as their on-shore ones in special locations

This Eastern Mediterranean cruise with the Vienna Philharmonic on board offers three on-shore concerts in Istanbul, Athens and Ephesus conducted by Herbert Blomstedt. Joining them will be soloists Angelika Kirchschlager (Mezzo-Soprano), Rainer Honeck (Violin) and Rudolph Buchbinder (Piano). There will also be four on-board concerts and access to rehearsals. Works are by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, von Weber and Haydn.

This cruise is the third in the series, following one in the Western Mediterranean, and a second in the Baltic.
